Digital Media Specialist

Position Description

We're looking for a dynamic individual able to integrate the various aspects of our electronic media and communications. This is a part-time position. Remuneration based on experience. Duties include:

  • service, monitor and support our Apple Workgroup Server
  • administer and update website
  • manage scheduled releases of email campaigns and maintain a client mailing list
  • archive electronic media (photos, graphics, documents)
  • involved in the production of PowerPoint presentations and InDesign documents for internal and external distribution
  • generate Word and Excel documents using in-house templates
  • make recommendations on strategic direction of technology needs

This individual will work in close cooperation with our in-house Communications Designer, various Project Managers and Administrative staff. 

Skills & Experience

Working knowledge of Apple OSX Server

Experience with Apple Share and implementation of OSX Services

Experience working with MS Office (PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel)

Experience producing documents with Adobe InDesign

Marketing Interns

Position Description

We have 3 internships available starting in January 2012 for Marketing Interns. The position is part-time through June 2012 (approx. 15 hours per week). You'll be working on projects for our clients and for our company, conducting background research, developing marketing research tools, and learning to synthesize real-world customer feedback. You'll also be developing business cases, writing commercialization plans, and developing business plans.  And you'll be working on positioning, messaging, and brand strategy, for key client and internal projects, amongst other things.  Depending on your background, experience, and interest, we will determine the exact projects you'll undertake if you are offered the position.

Health Communication and Social Marketing Intern

Position Description

We have 1 internship available starting in January 2012 for a Health Marketing & Social Marketing Intern. The position is part-time through June 2012 (approx. 15 hours per week). You'll be working on projects for our clients, conducting background/secondary research, developing research tools, and learning to synthesize real-world customer feedback. You'll also be developing social marketing and health communication strategies.  And you'll be working on positioning, messaging, and brand strategy.  Depending on your background, experience, and interest, we will determine the exact projects you'll undertake if you are offered the position.

To qualify for the internships, you must be in a graduate program at a San Diego college/university or have some graduate-level education in Public Health, Business, Communication, or Marketing; be a great writer; have excellent verbal communication skills; be able to prioritize your work independently; enjoy a dynamic, creative environment; and be accountable for results.

Project Manager/Project Director Position Description You'll be in charge of running and doing a variety of research and consulting projects as well as supervising our project team overall. For running projects, you'll be creating project timelines and budgets; managing staff and contractors (e.g. graphic designers, interviewers, administrative support); and overseeing vendors (e.g. focus group facilities, video techs). For doing projects, you'll be conducting and analyzing qualitative research, from developing screeners and moderator guides to moderating focus groups, conducting in-depth interviews, and writing recommendations and key findings. You'll be conducting situational analyses, competitive analysis, and secondary research on key consulting projects. And for overall supervision of our project team, you'll be managing and directing the day-to-day activities including making sure all project timelines are met and client expectations are properly managed. We have an exceptional, talented project team, including other project managers, coordinators, administrative support, and technical support that you will be directing.

Skills & Experience Research: 3 years of designing and conducting qualitative research and secondary research. Strong planning and methodology development skills and knowledge of quantitative research (surveys, data analysis/stats, etc.). Super strong strategic thinking skills and research know-how.

Management People and Projects: 3 years of supervisory experience and the ability to lead others on projects. 3 years of project management experience, including planning and operations for fielding research, client communication, and team coordination for multiple projects.

Client Relations: 5 years of direct client management experience, excellent expectation management skills, and the ability to grow the relationship.

Strong writing skills, and the ability to translate research results into strategy, and strategy into tactics and recommendations for clients. A marketing background (including branding, positioning, new product R&D, etc.) and communications theory and/or psychology is strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Your Style You like teaching and sharing, and you're very good at articulating difficult and complex ideas in simple ways.
 You take initiative, can achieve with minimal direction, and are resourceful.
 You can keep a lot of balls in the air, and you are great managing the tasks of others to ensure expectations are met.
 You stay current on research methods and marketing trends, but are rooted in your classical training as a researcher. 
You know how to use technology and online resources for primary and secondary research.
You are a good collaborator, team player, and communicator.
 You are a logic-driven analytical type who can envision the application of research results.

Qualitative Interviewers We contract with experienced qualitative interviewers, who are good with doctors, scientists, and academics to conduct individual in-depth interviews. Fee is commensurate with experience.

Web Developer & Web Designer We often have projects that require Web design and development, and we are looking for a Web Developers who can help us out and build their portfolio. As a Web Developer you will be responsible for working with a talented team in the creation and development of dynamically generated web pages for a variety of projects ranging from health promotion to academia. We are looking for a combination of web design with some programming skills and a great deal of familiarity with Web 2.0 functionality and technology. We offer flexible hours and good pay, and are seeking an entry-level candidate who has:

Good understanding of web graphics, Flash design, typography, color theory, page layout and illustration
Good knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash
Basic knowledge of current web scripting languages: HTML/XHTML/XML, JavaScript, etc.
Ability to create wire frames and Web page prototypes for feedback
Knowledge (or ability to quickly acquire knowledge) of current web standards and browser compatibility issues
Ability to design dynamically driven, customizable interfaces
Attention to detail, creativity, and a good eye for aesthetics are required

Video Production/Editing Intern We work on projects that require video production and editing, primarily for Web distribution, and we are looking for a Video Production/Editing Intern who can help us out and build his/her portfolio. As a Video Production/Editing Intern, you would be responsible for working with a talented team in the creation and development of video projects primarily for public health and health promotion under the direction of the Project Manager. The videos produced will be educational tools, health promotion tools, and marketing tools for our clients. We offer flexible hours and good pay for an entry-level position. We're seeking a candidate who has:

Good understanding of lighting, audio, and camera set up
Good knowledge of transferring and copying video in mini-DV tape, hard drive, DVD formats. Some experience posting video to the internet a plus
Solid knowledge of video camera operation, including HD and 3CCD cameras
Ability to take a wider view of the overall project, understand and internalize goals, and offer solutions and options
Attention to detail and a good eye for aesthetics are required
Some experience producing and editing digital video with samples of your work (can be student projects)
